I have a library card from Windsor Public Library, my home public library, across the border from Detroit. I am presently traveling to eastern and northern Ontario, well beyond commuting distance from my home! I need to use the libraries in person in my Ontario destinations. Does Ontario proffer something like BC’s One Card program, a provincial “library card to access and borrow material from any participating public library in the province?”
A library card from your home public library opens the door to public libraries wherever you travel – or stay – in British Columbia.
Libraries across BC are participating in the BC OneCard program, which offers access to materials at other libraries across the region. If the library you’re visiting participates in the BC OneCard, you can obtain a free decal by showing them your valid library card along with identification with proof of your current address. Materials borrowed can be returned to that library or any other participating OneCard library in the province, including your own public library.
